Howdy!

My name is Erik Hands and I am the Resource Math teacher for the school year of 2022 to 2023 at Cumberland Academy High School. I have been with Cumberland for 4 years as a Paraprofessional throughout the elementary and middle school campus. This is my 1st year as a full time teacher and I am excited for this opportunity!

A little about me:

I've grown up here locally in Tyler and played football and baseball for Legacy High School (formally known as Robert E. Lee). I've attended Tyler Junior College after high school and finished my degree in Special Education at Western Governors University (WGU) based in Utah. My passion with special education all started with my children who are both diagnosed with Non-verbal Autism. My life long goal is to continue to understand and advocate for my own and many others who have autism. In my free time, I am a huge sports fan of Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Also very involved with anything Nerd related such as comic books, technology, movies, and video games.
