Copy of Information About Me

This will be my second year teaching art at Cumberland Academy High School. It is my privilege and honor to be teaching at Cumberland. I love the Cumberland Academy Organization including the amazing staff, supportive administration, and awesome students.  I am teaching Art I and Drawing III & IV for the year 2020/2021.

For Art I students will be challenged to think independently and find creative ways to problem solve.  I want my students to work with a variety of materials and use various methods of creating artwork.  Each student will come away from Art I with a better understanding of their personal aesthetic and subject matter as well as improved skills.

I am so happy to be teaching Drawing III and IV this year.  I truly believe that drawing is the basis for all art and every idea starts with a sketch!  This advanced drawing class is especially for students who want to focus on their drawing skills.  Students will focus on drawing the human form, drawing en plein air, landscape drawing, and drawing in various styles.  Each student will come away with new drawing skills, creative problem solving skills, and again a better sense of individual style.

I earned my Bachelors Degree in Fine Art at University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).  At UTEP I majored in painting and minored in drawing.  I have a passion for painting and specialize in painting portraits and figures.  I have contributed artwork to the Emily's Place Gala in Dallas, TX for many years.  I have competed in Toma Mi Corazon, an art contest for Taco Tote, and won the Purchase Prize.  I created all of the artwork for a local movie, Love In Daylight, which was accepted and featured in The Golden State Film Festival 2020.  In addition I have featured art in various other Exhibitions and Juried Art Shows.
